Transfer window: hires for Herbert Smith Freehills, Clyde & Co and Dentons

Bougartchev Moyne Associes

A pair of Linklaters corporate crime lawyers in Paris have left the firm to launch their own boutique, Bougartchev Moyne Associes. Kiril Bougartchev, the new firm’s managing partner, was a partner at Linklaters between 2007 and 2016. He was previously a partner at Gide Loyrette & Nouel. He is joined at the firm by Linklaters counsel Emmanuel Moyne.

Herbert Smith Freehills

Has boosted its Johannesburg office with the hire of senior competition partner Jean Meijer. She joins from Bowmans where she was a partner and head and co-head of the firm’s competition team. She was previously a partner at DLA Piper’s former South Africa ally Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr.
The firm has also hired project finance lawyer Biddy Faber from Cliffe Dekker where she was a director. She joins Herbert Smith as a consultant.

K&L Gates

Has hired legacy Kaye Scholer’s London managing partner Philip Perrotta. He held the role for two years and is set to join the US firm along with fellow aviation finance partner Sidanth Rajagopal and a team of associates. The two partners joined Kaye Scholer from Clyde & Co in 2014. Kaye Scholer merged with US firm Arnold & Porter in 2016.

Clyde & Co

Has hired David Hansom as a partner in its infrastructure group where he will head up the firm’s public procurement team. Hansom was previously a partner and head of the public sector group at Veale Wasbrough Vizards. He was previously an associate at Eversheds and trained and qualified at Nabarro.

DWF

Has hired corporate partner Alistair Hogarth in London from PwC Legal. Hogarth focuses on mid-tier M&A deals and private equity transactions in sectors such as energy, retail and technology. He trained and qualified at Clifford Chance in London before joining PwC in 1997.

Locke Lord 

Has appointed corporate lawyer Sean Page as a partner in its London office. He joins from Pinsent Masons where he was a partner. His practice focuses on public and private M&A and private equity transactions.

Kingsley Napley

Has boosted its London office with the hire of employment partner Juliet Carp. Carp joins from the London office of US firm Dorsey & Whitney and specialises in international employment law. She was previously a partner at legacy Speechly Bircham.

Dentons

Has launched a French insurance practice with a four-lawyer team hire. Insurance partner Severine Hotellier and a team of three associates have joined the international firm’s Paris office from French firm Lefevre Pelletier & Associes where Hotellier was a partner. The addition of the team gives Dentons 120 lawyers in Paris, including 44 partners.

McDermott Will & Emery 

Has hired tax partner Markus Hill in its Frankfurt office. Hill joins from King & Wood Mallesons where he was a partner. He has extensive experience of transactional matters with a particular focus on buyouts and tax-efficient structuring. Last month the firm hired former KWM European and Middle East senior partner Michael Cziesla as a corporate partner in Germany.

Gowling WLG 

Has boosted its German practice with the hire of corporate partner Petra Beyer in Stuttgart. She had previously been a partner at German firm Haver & Mailander.

DAS Law

Has hired William Ellerton from Eversheds to head up its property and contract department based in Bristol. He was a partner in Eversheds financial services disputes and investigations group between 2007 and 2017 and prior to that was a partner and head of litigation at Bevans Solicitors.

Withers

Has recruited DLA Piper tax lawyer Jenny Hill Bratt in California. Hill Bratt focuses on US and international trust and estate planning. She joins the firm as a partner in its San Diego office.https://www.kcpartners.co.uk/2019/04/17/london-based-litigator/
